Thèmes Pousse-Fouguite

The three Thèmes Pousse-Fouguite were composed in 2007 and 2008. Surprisingly, the first one started as a funky chord sequence that I played around with for a while, until, tired of getting nowhere with it, I decided to try a completely opposite approach: I played the chords very gently and slowly, and tried to find a melody that fitted their rather odd sequence. All three pieces are similar in structure: they start with simple, graceful 7th chords, then get more dissonant in the middle, and finally become graceful again, with a few odd notes thrown in here and there.
